  1. What is Contractor Safety?

    Contractor Safety encompasses contractor safety performance, in order to ensure that a Service Providers' action(s) does not pose a risk to themselves, our employees, customers, other service providers, the community, or the environment.

  2. What is the AR Safety Policy?

    Safety, Health and Environment Policy: Aerojet Rocketdyne will not be satisfied until its workplaces are safe from hazards, its employees are injury-free, its products and services are safe, and its commitment and record in compliance, pollution prevention, and protection of the natural environment are unmatched.

  3. What is VPP?

    Voluntary Protection Program - VPP is a certification program designed to recognize employers whose occupational safety and health programs are exemplary and meet specific Cal/OSHA VPP guidelines. Additional details can be found on Cal/OSHA's VPP web site or Federal OSHA web site.

  4. Who is Cal/OSHA? And how do I contact them?

    Cal/OSHA is the California Occupational Safety & Health Administration. Cal/OSHA is responsible for enforcing California laws and regulations pertaining to workplace safety and health and for providing assistance to employers and workers about workplace safety and health issues.   5. Who is WA DOSH? And how do I contact them?

    WA DOSH is the Washington State Department Occupational Safety & Health. DOSH is responsible for enforcing Washington laws and regulations pertaining to workplace safety and health and for providing assistance to employers and workers about workplace safety and health issues.   6. What are the Contractor Levels?

    Aerojet Rocketdyne categorizes Contractors by the type of work performed:

    • Level III Contractor (Maximum):
      1. Contractor must submit evidence of an acceptable SH&E program and receive pre-approval from SH&E
      2. Personnel are badged
      3. Personnel must receive a safety orientation to Aerojet Rocketdyne
    • Level II Contractor (Mid-Level)
      1. Personnel are badged and may require an escort
      2. Personnel must receive a safety orientation to Aerojet Rocketdyne
    • Level I Contractor (Minimum)
      1. Personnel are badged and may require an escort
      2. Truckers have limited access to facility and receive basic SH&E requirements
        information from Security personnel
      3. Personnel must receive a safety orientation to Aerojet Rocketdyne
      4. Note: Certain high risk maintenance and technical service work may require Level III qualification as determined by the Contractor Program Administrator.

  7. What Contractors need to be Pre-Approved?

    Contractors who are engaged in construction activities, high risk activities, or required to work in the factory or other high risk areas at Aerojet Rocketdyne, are required to be pre-approved by Aerojet Rocketdyne Safety, Health & Environmental (SH&E) before being allowed on site.

    Construction Activity – the actual making, building, creating, renovating, demolishing, or remediation of a company owned or leased structure, real property, or infrastructure. This includes telecommunications work.

  8. How can I get on the Pre-Approved List?

    Submit the required data package on a CD or in another electronic format with a Table of Contents to the Aerojet Rocketdyne representative listed at each specific Aerojet Rocketdyne site.

  9. How do I submit documentation at this time?

    Data packages must be submitted electronically via e-mail or by mailing a CD to the following applicable locations: NOTE: Any hardcopy data packages will be not be accepted.

  10. When do I need to submit documentation to be added to the Pre-Approval List? And do I need to re-certify after a certain period of time?

    All contractors are required to be pre-approved prior to initiating work on and at the Aerojet Rocketdyne site. Re-certification must be obtained at an interval not to exceed 3 years from the date of initial certification on the pre-approved contractor list.

  11. What happens if my company has a safety violation while I am working at Aerojet Rocketdyne?

    SH&E and Aerojet Rocketdyne management will review all contractor SH&E violations and recommend appropriate corrective action to Procurement Supply Chain Materiel Management (SCMM). This may include up to the contractor’s removal from Aerojet Rocketdyne’s pre-approved list.
