Habitat for Humanity
Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Materiel Management department and Habitat for Humanity’s ReStore have established a unique partnership that helps support Habitat’s mission to provide simple, decent housing in their communities. Habitat ReStore outlets takes donations of new and gently-used building materials and household goods, and sells those items to the public at a fraction of the retail price, with proceeds supporting Habitat’s mission.
Aerojet Rocketdyne’s Materiel Management department has partnered with Sacramento’s ReStore facility to provide them with surplus materials, goods, office furniture and electronic equipment. If any used items do not meet ReStore’s criteria for resale, the items are broken down into their base components and recycled appropriately, providing an alternate revenue stream for the ReStore.
Through the partnership, Aerojet Rocketdyne supports a valuable community partner, while reducing excess inventory on various materials and supplies. Donating the materials also reduces Aerojet Rocketdyne’s waste stream by reusing or recycling the items. With ReStore locations in most Aerojet Rocketdyne communities, the company plans to replicate this program at our other facilities across the enterprise.
