Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle

Overview

For the first time in a generation, NASA is building a new human spacecraft. Named after one of the largest constellations in the night sky, the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle is designed to transport astronauts to deep space and serve as backup for International Space Station support.

The Orion spacecraft is comprised of a crew module for the transfer of people and cargo; a service module for propulsion, electrical power and fluid storage; and the launch abort system designed to maximize crew safety during ascent.

As a member of the Orion team since 2006, Aerojet Rocketdyne provides propulsion for nearly every component of the spacecraft.
