Gebhard, a German clockmaker and his wife, the former Dora Van Dyke. Their daughters Allene and Lillian offered this home to the current owners who have lived there since 1987. The current home owners gutted the home upon moving in, replacing all the original electric and plumbing and returned the home to the original layout. R.L. and his brother L.K. assisted their father, Christian Gebhard in completing Christian's life's work (30 years) of the marvelous "Scientific Astronomical Art and World Clock." Christian began working on the instrument in 1865 and completed it in 1895 with the help of his sons. "Gebhard's Famous Clock" weighed 6000 lbs., was 10 feet tall, 10 feet wide and 3 feet deep. It traveled the world and was displayed internationally and in American clock museums.
